Important changes to SLCP, new version of CAF v1.5 released, remote verification added

SLCP officially introduced the latest version of CAF v1.5 at the online release meeting of CAF v1.5 at the end of November 2022. One of the biggest changes is the addition of remote authentication, which was not allowed before. The new version of SLCP v1.5 is now available, while the old version of v1.4 can be converted to the end of February 2023.

If the factory has purchased the CAF version 1.4 module, but has not started the self-assessment, you can contact the platform to upgrade it to version 1.5.

If you have started to use CAF 1.4 for self-assessment, please note that you will need to complete all processes before the end of February 2023.

The update of the version mainly involves the following aspects

1. Country-specific issues

According to the country where the factory is located, only specific countries need to answer the questions (including Bangladesh, Cambodia, Indonesia, Pakistan and Vietnam)

2. The wording of the question and the content of more information have been improved

SLCP analyzed the data that could easily lead to "misunderstanding" and introduced better question wording and/or more information.

3. Introduce Full Virtual Verification, that is, remote verification

If the factory encounters force majeure, 100% remote verification can be performed, and the following conditions must be met:

-Explain why the factory needs remote verification and share the evidence to be provided with the designated verification agency before verification, including:

A. The factory encounters business restrictions caused by force majeure

B. The restriction has lasted for more than 3 months

C. The restrictions will not change in the next month or more

-The factory must meet some specific requirements, including minimum operating capacity, electronic record keeping system, internet and software functions, and detailed and up-to-date factory layout

-The factory (and verifier) must complete the SLCP remote validation online training course

-Mandatory use of WE Tech survey

-The factory must complete Step 2 of the data collection tool

-If the factory has completed SLCP remote verification recently, it cannot continue SLCP remote verification

4. Introduce WE Tech (Worker Engagement Technology)

Provide a digital platform for employees to report information directly through mobile phone survey. Worker Engagement Technology, in general, is employee research. In order to achieve the requirement of 100% remote verification, the factory needs to select an employee survey service provider approved by SLCP before completing the self-assessment, and complete an employee survey of 20 questions by mobile phone and other means, and the cost is paid by the factory.
