HIGG FEM validation to promote sustainable development of the industryIssuing time:2022-11-24 13:50 HIGG Certified Factory Environment Module (HIGG FEM) is a sustainability assessment tool that standardizes how factories measure and evaluate their environmental performance each year. The HIGG FEM is designed to: 1. Measure and quantify the sustainability impact of the plant 2. Reduce redundancy in measuring and reporting sustainability performance 3. Drive business value by reducing risk and uncovering efficiency 4. Create a common meaning and language to communicate sustainable development to stakeholders
Higg FEM related modules Higg FEM environment verification requires the purchase of two modules: Module I: FEM self-assessment module As long as the customer requests, regardless of whether on-site verification is required, the factory must purchase the FEM self-assessment module. Module 2: vFEM verification module If the customer requires that the factory must accept on-site verification of Higg FEM environment, the factory must purchase vFEM verification module.
Main contents of Higg FEM verification Environmental management system, energy use/greenhouse gas emissions, water use, wastewater/sewage, exhaust emissions, waste gas management and chemicals management. For the chemical management module, Level 1 verification can be completed by ordinary SAC qualified verifiers. Level 2 and 3 verifications can only be completed by SAC qualified high-level chemical verifiers. ASCP has obtained the qualification of SAC Higg FEM Chemical Specialist Verifier, which can verify all contents of Higg FEM.
Why do we need a third party for on-site verification? Compared with Higg FEM self-assessment, Higg FEM on-site verification provides additional benefits for the factory. The data verified by a third-party testing agency is more accurate and reliable, eliminating human bias. In addition, Higg FEM verification results can be shared with relevant brands, which is conducive to improving the supply chain system and customer trust, and bringing more global orders to the factory. |
